MANILA, Ark. -- A mild earthquake centered in northeastern Arkansas was felt
across a wide area of the Mississippi Valley on Sunday, but no major damage was
reported.
The quake was measured at magnitude 4.1, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
"One man had some shelving knocked off the wall and another said it knocked the
TV off the wall," said Michael Hill, a dispatcher at the Mississippi County
sheriff's office.
It was felt in parts of Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and northern Mississippi
in addition to Arkansas, authorities said.
The tremor was centered about 4 miles south-southeast of Manila in the New
Madrid Seismic Zone, said Gary Patterson, a geologist with the USGS Center for
Earthquake Research and Information at Tennessee's University of Memphis.
One of the largest earthquakes on record in North America, estimated at
magnitude 7.5, was centered at New Madrid, Mo., during a series of tremors in
the winter of 1811-1812 that were felt as far away as Boston.
"It was in a place where we generally have one of this size about every other
year," Patterson said. However, "we've had four that I can recall since April
2001."

34 degrees here this morning! WILD...I have never seen it this cold during the month of May. Not much warm air this week...maybe seventies by the end of the week. MAYBE warmer weather after this week! HOLD OUT HOPE EVERYONE :) :) :)

The sun is out again. YAY :) Still cold though...temperatures fell into the thirties for the second night in a row. It is SNOWING in Texas and Oklahoma this morning! YES SNOW! Wild weather. But all good things must come to an end :) Temperatures may approach 80 degrees for my birthday!!!!! YAYYAYAYAYAYAYAYA SPRING???? Maybe! lol This SHOULD kick off a warmer and more active storm pattern. We shall see how this plays out. So far the warm temperatures just have not been able to find a way into our area.
Waiting on the guys to come open the pool and then I need to go get some mulch for the flower beds. Lots to do today...hopefully the pool people come soon.

I get to do a television program on May 11th. It will be a 30 minute progra for Channel 2 here in Paducah. It will air on Comcast Cable on and off over the next couple of months. I will be talking about the May 6th tornado and the Shadow Angel Foundation. I will also be talking about tornado safety rules and the American Red Cross. Should be interesting :)

Ok Dokie...WELLLLL the pool people came. That didn't go very well. The cover won't open - soooo they have to check on the motor :) I hope they can get it fixed this week. I was planning on swimming on Sunday! lol
Bought 35 bags of mulch...that will be tomorrows "house" project! fun fun - actually I like messing in the yard - so that is kewl!
My hospital bill came from Toronto :) eek! lol What free health care???? :) OHHHH that is just for those Canadians! I see how it is!
Anyway...EIGHTY on Sunday???? I hope so...that is the OFFICIAL forecast! Holding out HOPE!

A LOW TEMPERATURE OF 37 DEGREES WAS RECORDED AT THE BARKLEY REGIONAL
AIRPORT IN PADUCAH KENTUCKY THIS MORNING...MAY 3RD. THIS TIES THE
RECORD LOW...RECORDED IN 1971 AND EARLIER YEARS.
I personally have never seen this kind of weather in May. It SHOULD warm up next week!
Anyhoo - still working on the yard. Did you know that it takes 60 bags of mulch for this property? :) lol - fun fun - it is partly cloud and cool outside. Good yard working weather.
David is leaving for Germany tomorrow...Doug and Erick are doing great up in Toronto...Norman send me some good news...he said his right eye is improving - he can see better out of it. This is good news!!!!! My friend Bryen is leaving for his journey to Vancouver - he is going to move there from Toronto. Everyone else seems to be doing ok!

Well 38 degrees this morning! That makes four or five nights now with temps in the thirties!!!!

Went to Dylans track meet this afternoon. That was fun. This was the first time I was able to catch him running. Dylan will graduate next Thursday Night from 8th grade :)
