Major outbreak of severe weather
including tornadoes across
MO/AL/GA - and surrounding states. |
|
|
|
Numerous fatalities have been reported
from a tornado outbreak today. One death was reported in
Southeast Missouri. A seven year old girl was killed this
morning by a tornado. Numerous deaths have been reported
in Alabama. A high school was hit...at least 8 were killed
at the school. Other deaths have been reported in Georgia.
The Paducah area received damage in the Cape Girardeau Area and
Carbondale Area. Several people were trapped in a house
near Carbondale. Thankfully no
large tornadoes hit the Paducah Area.

Tornado
Outbreak Clean-Up Begins |
|
|
|
|
What we know: 20+ were killed.
100+ were injured. Many of the deaths were in Enterprise,
Alabama and Americus, Georgia. A high school in
Enterprise, Alabama had a number of children killed as they took
shelter in the hallways. A portion of the roof collapsed
on them. At least 30 tornadoes struck the Ohio/Tennessee
Valleys and Southeast United States. Three of those
tornadoes have now been rated as EF3 or greater.
On the land front. The guy who
owns the land pulled out of the contract with his real estate
agent and decided he was going to donate the land to his church.
Now we have to wait 30 days to see what the church wants to do.
Chad says that the church will likely turn around and sell it
immediately. So who knows...if it is meant to be then it
will work out - if not then we will move on. I think we
will keep looking regardless.
Everything in Oklahoma is going great.
Meeting a lot of interesting weather professionals.
Tomorrow there will be a presentation on the April 2006 tornado
outbreak that hit my region back home.

forecasting severe weather". Should be fun :) No new
news on the land. Still waiting. Working on a house
design, landscaping, and fun stuff like that.
Had a nice lunch with Sue :) Always interesting to
catch up on the latest and greatest from her world! She
has put together a photo collection of old barns in McCracken
County. Pretty cool!

I like this quote...
"Al Gore: Al Gore had the foresight to help invest in what later
became the Internet, and yet, people see him as a stiff. The
former Senator from Tennessee was right on the war in Iraq, but
the Democratic establishment would rather listen to Hillary
parse her war position. Gore is ahead of his time on global
warming, and all the pundits can do is discuss his ballooning
weight. Suddenly, he wins a little gold trophy at the Oscars and
now people are encouraging him to throw his hat into the
presidential ring!
How screwed up are American values when leadership matters less
than showmanship? Have we learned nothing after electing Bush
because he'd be fun to share a beer with on the ranch? With the
advent of cable TV, politicians are our new rock stars and
elections have become just another form of entertainment. Why
don't we just drop all pretenses and have Rosie run against "The
Donald"?"

Training this morning for Emergency Management. Then
not much going on...Spring Break from school - always a good
thing I suppose. The weather is AMAZING.
Temperatures in the 70s and BLUE sky! NICE.
Thunderstorms will move in on Wed Night and Thursday.
Might be a few heavy storms. Nothing huge though.
Northern portions of the area are in a slight risk for severe
weather on Wednesday Night. So.....guess we will keep an
eye on that. Had dinner with Julie and Danny last night.
MAN Danny is getting tall...he is growing up fast. I guess
he is at that age. |

Hmmm raining here :) Some thunder to my north.
Thankfully no severe today. :) Just some spring
showers! WARM - almost 70 at noon. Sounds good to
me.
Still no word on the land. Waiting on the church to do
or say something. Maybe next week. Also still
waiting on ONE more piece of paper from Illinois...then PERHAPS
we can FINALLY finish up the Canadian issues. I am going
to visit as soon as I get the word -go. :) Crossing
my fingers that all of that is going to work out.
Daisy is growing. Not getting fat yet though.
Everyone keeps telling me that she will get fat. All pugs
do. So far though...she has not.

Sooooo hoping it will be today!
Raining here this morning...and it turned cold again.
45 degrees out there...brrrr with a low overcast. Nice
rain though...steady not heavy.
Looks like a BIG snowstorm for the Northeast. YAY for
them...yawn for us. Winter is over right?
Did I ever post on here?

DO BUSINESS WITH DELL COMPUTERS.
Just wanted to throw that out there.
On other notes...today was not the day and nothing came
in the mail. So I just know tomorrow will be the day :)

Tonight Charles Doswell is going to be speaking at our NWA
Meeting! Pretty excited about that. They are going
to give him one of my tornado books from 2003. So that is
cool! I will take some pics. He is speaking tomorrow
in Carbondale...along with some others. Mr. Doswell will
be presenting his findings on the Tri-State Tornado.
