Hot and humid weather CONTINUES! Temperatures
will soar into the nineties again today. ELEVEN days in July have been
90 degrees or higher! HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!
It will be a VERY busy week ahead! I will be in
Ohio for Red Cross
Teacher Training on Thursday through Sunday. I also have a meeting about
becoming one of the Red Cross Disaster Members that will receive phone calls
for burn out victims. This is one of the largest programs that the Red
Cross is involved with. The majority of disasters are single family
fires. The fire department will call me if there is a family who has
been involved with a house fire. I then turn around and set up a hotel
for them and meet with them concerning what their needs are going to be.
The Red Cross will help put people up in a hotel and eventually help them find
a new place to live. We also will give them food and clothing vouchers.
I am pretty excited about getting involved with this program. It will
mean receiving phone calls at 3 a.m. in the morning though :) hehe. I
guess I will have to leave my ringer on LOUD!
Lots of other stuff going on as well. Busy is
good right now. Keeps me out of trouble :)
Mother is staying with me for awhile. I know
she is having a hard time trying to find her rhythm without grandmother
around. We all are. It will take time.

Lazy - Hazy - Summer Days :) So goes Paducah
these days. Very hot and humid weather has been wearing everyone out.
Thankfully it is cloudy today and a cold front is knocking on our door.
Cooler temperatures should stick around into NEXT week! That is the good
news today. I am sure everyone in this region is thankful for that.
Things have been busy with Red Cross Training and
Shadow Angel activities. It feels like I am just going through the
motions. Little motivation these days. I guess that will pass with
time. I know it is normal to go through different stages in trying to
deal with the loss of someone close. It has been extremely difficult
over the past few weeks. It seems like eternity actually.
The Heroes Campaign is going pretty good.
Waiting to hear from everyone on new donations :) If anyone wants to
send something in then please send it to my address below - I will then send
you a receipt from Sue Henry at the Red Cross here in Paducah.

No real news from Toronto. Norman is doing great. He is staying
busy with his foundation work. :) Doug and Erick are reporting in
as BUSY BUSY! That is good from what I hear. No new news from Keri
or anyone else. David is heading for Japan on Friday. Perhaps
eventually I will join him over there for a brief time. Have to wait and
see on all of that.
Kristy is having surgery today. She should be home tonight.
I am sure Lucy will be glad to find out that she won't be missing for long.
GET WELL SOON KRISTY!
Hmmm well what else is going on :) I am leaving for Red Cross Teacher
Training on Thursday and will return home no Sunday. I will be in
Columbus, Ohio. I believe that is a nine hour drive! eek :)
Ok well that is the update from Ashcreek Road.
THE SHUTTLE IS UP AND RUNNING AGAIN! DISCOVERY HAD A BEAUTIFUL

THURSDAY EVENING...ARRIVED IN OHIO!
I am in the DEAD center of Ohio :)
Beautiful area...lots of rolling hills and church steeples. My favorite
combination. It kinda reminds me of some of the landscapes I have seen in
New England. Small area though. I would say there are not more than
a few hundred people that live in this area. Small...small!
Training begins tomorrow. Should be a
long day. Today was a long day on the road. It took about 9 hours to
drive from Paducah to this region. I am very close to Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
On other notes...
Kristy is safely back home now :) I
don't have cell phone here...for those trying to call me (Kristy :) ).
There is NO signal here at all. I feel like I have left the country or
something! lol
Everything else is going okay I
guess. I am seriously considering going to New England soon to climb Mount
Washington. It is on my list of things that I want to do. I am
running out of time though. The weather will become severe soon on the
mountain. I should go before October. Perhaps a September trip.

Another beautiful morning in Ohio.
Temperatures are near the upper 50s this morning! Pretty cool for July!
Saturday Afternoon...
YAY now I have my teaching
certificate. I can teach basic disaster courses such as Shelter Operations
and so on! After a year of training and classes now I can
teach! Sounds good! Sue Henry our Chapter Director and I have had a
WONDERFUL time in Ohio! BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY! It reminds me of cottage
territory! We have a lot of work to do in Paducah. With the new
shelters we have...we now have to do some training! I guess Sue and I will
be teachers. :)
Beautiful day continues here in wonderful
Central Ohio!
